Presenting to distinguished judging panel from academia, government, business and the media. The top prize—a trip to Berlin to compete in the international finale.
UAlberta Falling Walls Lab
UAlberta was invited to host another international Lab—a German led initiative that showcases the quality, passion and talent of outstanding Next Gen innovators.

- Free event. General attendance is welcomed and encouraged but RSVP is REQUIRED
Meet the jury
Michael Houghton (professor and Canada Excellence Research Chair in Virology), Betty Moulton (professor Voice, Speech and Text), Thomas Thundat (professor and Canada Excellence Research Chair in Oil Sands Molecular Engineering), Ray Muzyka (founder/CEO, Threshold Impact and Bio-Ware co-founder), Tom Murad (director, Siemens Engineering and Technology Academy), Justin Riemer (Government of Alberta), Michael Walters (Edmonton City Councillor), Ruth Kelly (President and CEO, Venture Publishing Inc.) and Nermeen Yousseff (won second place at UAlberta’s 2014 Lab and 2nd place at Berlin finale).
Falling Walls Lab format
Presentations will be judged on: breakthrough factor—how new/outstanding the idea is, relevance/impact—how relevant idea is for the specific discipline and beyond and structure and performance—clarity and how convincing the presenter is.
